Default GW freezing computer

I'll keep this short and sweet, and im wondering if anyone else is having a problem. Did some searching on the forum, didn't find much (which is mighty disenhearting). I have a toshiba satellite a75-s206. Radeon 9000. Everything up to date. Enough to run the program. Get through creation and ever, get to the biggest download thus far, it completes, 45 seconds pass, GW freezes. 10 more secons, cursor dissapears and my computer is completely frozen. No ctrl alt del, no repsonce at all. Need to shut down computer through the holding down of the power. Happens every time. Anybody else feel my pain? ... Anybody?

Default Eh?

Similar thread, different forums.

Why wouldn't you simply post the solution on the forums instead of causing each person to wait for a personal response? It's a beta weekend, limited time here.

EDIT:

LookLeft and I found a solution, a third party driver that is up to date. Omega Drivers. Enjoy.

Default Radeon 9000 fix x2!

Beastcannon has one way of fixing it, and I found another. His was using a mod (Dhmodtool2.2.exe) and what the mod does is it by-passes the mobility testing in the catalyst and updating the catalyst driver, mind was to replace the driver with an Omega catalyst driver for the radeon 9000.

http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati/win2k_xp.php

Enjoy.

Note: This omega driver is an "all in one" driver, which claims to work with whatever distribution Radeon you have. It worked for me, no telling if it will for you. Good luck.

EDIT: Didn't see notahero's edit. So i explaned it twice... but at least you have two fixes now.
